Dr. Heather Gage Heckel, EdD, an artist and art educator, has spent a decade as an artist-in-residence for the National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management at 30 sites across the United States. She spent time in each location researching the park’s history, culture, and interpretive themes, and created a variety of artwork series that reflect the atmosphere of these places. This book is a visual and written record of her experiences as an artistic advocate, documenting the public lands that belong to all of us.
